Hair loss occurs differently in each person. Find out in which cases The Coronal Follicular Hair Restoration is indicated.
» Women – According to the case, the Hair Restoration can be an excellent indication for women.
Finally, there’s a technique able to solve focal areas of female baldness without greater bothering or constraints. The causes for chronicle Female hair loss are not fully known yet. Its course, many times unexpected and of difficult diagnosis, continue being limiting for medical handling. On the other hand, it is possible, nowadays to make a better diagnosis. All this learning made clearer when we ought to, and mainly, when we do not have to indicate a hair restoration for women. |

Excellent indications: 1. Women with steady cases, very evident baldness in located areas and with a good volume of hair in the posterior region (occipital). 2. Post-Lifting Baldness; 3. Women with high forehead and with a natural-born receding frontal hairline should do it. Generally, in these cases, one or two transplants are sufficient to reproduce the volume and allow a variety of hairdos. It’s worth mentioning two high points of the Lateral Slit Follicular technique: The small time of recovering and the natural aspect of the result obtained with it.
Intermediate cases: patients with small bald areas, which are in a stage where it becomes evident but are still tolerable; Women possessing seated bald area, but presenting little voluminous donor areas or fine hair. Finally, diffuser or more extensive cases with a good donor area. As usual, all the cases must be studied one by one, calmly and with many criterions.
Contraindicated cases: 1. Women without clear diagnosis or with non- stabilized hair fall. A full investigation must be carried through for the indication of an adequate handling. 2. Diffuse baldness with little hair all around the head: the transplant would be little beneficial, therefore the donor area is little dense, insufficient. For these cases, there are another alternatives starting from the clinical handling, which can have been previously badly diagnosed or treated irregularly. Not only that but also, a great diversity of options of camouflage in order to magnifying the volume, like powder or sprays that adhere to the hair.
» Great baldness – “I am very bald. Is it possible to go through a hair transplant?”
![]() |
With rare exceptions, even in more extensive baldness it is possible to make the transplant. What does not mean that will be possible to fully cover the bald area. It is necessary to make clear that the transplant basically redistributes the remaining hair - using hair of a place that is minimally affected by the process of the baldness. It is not necessary to reproduce the original density of the hair. Generally, when placing half of the amount found in the natural density hair or a little more of its original density, is already enough to get the appearance of a hair with normal volume, without baldness signs. Is worth pointing out that the thinner the hair is, the denser the placed hair must be. This is a matter of volume, explained in the calculation formula of the volume of a cylinder (h x p x r2), being that each time that the diameter of the hair doubles, its volume quadruplicates! In general, people who present up to 40% of baldness (type II to IV) can have his / her hair fully restored. Those with 60% of bald area (baldness type VI and VII), where only the lateral and the posterior areas remain, one can only partially restore his hair - some area will still be partially bald. Example: it is possible to close the frontal area completed (previous) and the vertex partially (crown). But there are many existing nuances that will vary due to:
. Density of the hair in the donor area: the denser it is, the bigger the amount of hair to be transplanted. Hair caliber: the thicker the hair, the bigger the impression of volume that it causes, improving the covering. |
Being extensive, these cases take two or three transplants. The interval must be at least of 9 to 12 months between the first and second procedure and of 12 to 18 months after the second. We usually recommend that the patient go through two transplants. From this time on, the patient must be reevaluated for a final decision whether or not another session will be necessary. Is it worthy? This is a very personal opinion, which depends on the individual decision. People with older baldness are usually more used to the situation and feel themselves less motivated to make the transplant. However, it is undeniable that the hair makes the person to look younger and brings much more harmony and balance to the face, which means, in other words, more beauty. But again, everything is extremely subjective. The important thing is to have in mind that with the recent technique improvements the naturalness will always be preserved.
| » Young patients: “I’m young; do I have to wait to go through surgery?” Young patients deserve a special attention. The bigger the genetic baldness trend is, the more precocious and more extensive the process. The baldness process is unchained by masculine hormone DHT, which appears with the puberty. Thus, patients who initiate the baldness when they are sixteen years-old tend to develop bigger baldness. This means two things: firstly, in the case of a future extensive baldness, we will not have enough donor area to cover all the bald area. Secondly, that the greater ally of the young patient is the preventive clinical handling, therefore it is the only process able to postpone baldness. We are talking about the continuous use of Finasteride, which must be prescribed and followed by a dermatologist. |

Despite the immediatism of the youngsters, it should not consider making a transplant in 23 year-old patients and under. It’s around 23, 24 that it will be possible to estimate the extension of the baldness. Another reason is that older patients usually have enough maturity to understand the reach of the transplant and to accept an adult hair standard, with a little frontal hairline, for instance. We should avoid trying to reproduce the kind of hair that one patient had when he was 18-years-old. After all, what can be just natural when you are 18 can seem ridiculous when you are 40 or 50. Therefore, we recommend that you calm down, and really study if you really need a hair transplant at this early age. Perhaps, you could consider useful seeing a good therapist focusing on finding potential issues that lies beneath the desire of changing the way you look. Don’t let the hair mess up you life. Listen carefully to what the experienced and conscious professionals have to say about it.
» Corrections: I’ve already gone through one of those old-school hair transplants, is it possible to correct it?
A great improvement in the aspect is always possible, even if your previous transplant have left you with those tufts. But the approach, though, varies from case to case.
»» Hair Restoration or clinical treatment: When should I opt for one, for the other, or both?It is very important to make clear that they are different subjects. While the medical hair handling (clinical handling) aims at keeping the hair in or to reducing the fall of it, the intention behind hair transplant is to restore the hair of the bald area. Placing new hair, it will grow normally, covering the bald area. Please make sure that it does not prevent hair falling, but restitutes those that have already fallen. As for the Clinical handling: |

As for the Hair transplant:

A hair transplant with an artificial result is a nightmare for any one. Therefore, before making this important decision on the team of professionals you’re hiring, you really got to be patient, and ponder the decision deeply, after all, the result is going to modify your image for the rest of your life, probably having a deep impact that can be positive or negative as far as your self-steam goes. Above follows some important tips to help you choosing the right Medical Group: |
Indication: it is always a good start, especially coming from a doctor with excellent reputation in whom you can trust. The indication coming from a friend who has already gone through transplant can also be good, but be careful: Sometimes your friend still had hair, that, although thin, help misjudging the finishing of the transplant, when in fact, the surgeon has only augmented the hair volume. In this case, even though using small tufts of hair, a quiet satisfactory result can be achieved because the finishing, in the truth, is being made by the hair that your friend already had and not by the hair transplant. The result of the transplant is only being really evident when the remaining hair falls, displaying the tufts and the imperfections of the grafts. Therefore, a good tip would be to ask your friend if the transplant was made in a totally bald area or if he had hair on that region of the scalp. With a magnifying glass and a comb it is possible to look at it in detail.
“Drinking water from the source”: in an area of medicine that’s been through important evolutions recently, it is highly important to know whether the doctor it’s up-to-date with all the techniques, attending and participating in international congresses on the subject, "to drink water from the source". If he’s been using the same technique for over the years without great changes, it can be an indication of technological phase displacement. But don’t judge to soon, many times “new” does not mean “better". We recommend that you take a deep look on the subject; therefore nobody is better than yourself to defend your interests.
Ask the doctor about the little details of the procedure: Ask how many people are involved directly in the transplant; if he uses 3D microscopes; the transplant duration; if there’s a need of using turbans after the transplant; if he uses Follicular units only; etc. As it does in all areas, the health-field professionals have a very heterogeneous profile. There’s a portion of dedicated, experienced and up-to-date group of doctors out there and there’s a huge team of professionals using obsolete techniques. A very simple example is the use of 3-D microscopes; although it’s possible to have the transplant done with out them, 100% of the most international acclaimed clinics in the world prepare their follicular grafts using, exclusively, the 3-D microscope technology. The surgical staff is usually formed by 5 professionals, probably doubling it on super-mega sessions. The total duration time of the procedure can be an indicator off the technique used: Most modern-technique transplant takes 6 to 8 hours to be done. Is crucial to know the technique that is being used, following the international definitions: traditional punch, mini-grafts, mini-micrografting, mixed follicular transplant, total follicular transplant and Lateral slit follicular hair transplant or Coronal follicular hair transplant. Fantasy names as “ultrasoft” or “Megaline” doesn’t mean a thing. Finally, make sure the doctor gives a writing guarantee of the used technique to avoid misunderstandings. Older techniques can offer good results eventually but they can be very unpredictable as well, as it depends a lot on the surgeon hand, the patient cicatrisation, king of skin, type of hair than anything else. So, you don’t want to take chances! Technique is not everything but it’s definitely a substantial part of it!
Take your time do decide: Make no decisions by impulse. You have all the right to hear other professionals and to think well before deciding. To make a pressure on the patient to get the surgery date settled soon as possible can be very suspicious.
Ask to see the cases of the achieved results. Even better if they are well done, clear, with good lighting, sharp in order to see the details. Make sure to observe if they pick-up the same “before and after” positions and, finally, If possible, try to personally see some of his patients. Your doctor should not bee bothered by that. To see is to believe!

Before the Transplant To be healthy and avoid taking medicine that intervenes with the blood coagulation, as the AAS (acid salicylic acetyl) and avoid taking higher doses of vitamin and or Ginkgo Biloba, that must be suspended one week before transplant. As a precaution we ask for examinations such as fasting glucemia, hemogram, coagulograma to evaluate your health, and also a written evaluation from your cardiologist (we can indicate one). For your convenience we are be able to supply this order by email or fax. It’s recommendable providing it about two weeks before the surgery, just in case the cardiologist decides to ask for more exams, like an effort test, etc. |
Transplant Day After a light breakfast, you take the medication recommended by us. During the shower, wash your hair with the anti-septic shampoo indicated. Already in the clinic, after defining the drawing your new hair lines, we will take some more cases, to accurately register the drawing that’s been proposed. During the transplant the environment is relaxed and you will be hearing some soft music. The relaxing effect of the medication probably will put you to sleep during most of the surgery time. Close to the end, the naps will be shorter and you feel more awaken. Finished the transplant, your hair will be carefully clean and you will return to your room, without the necessity of the bothering dressings or turbans. After a light meal, you’ll be discharged. Generally, one hour after finishing the transplant, you are able to go back home. |

Immediately after Thanks to the 0.6-0.7mm micro orifices and extremely delicate follicular grafts available in current Coronal Follicular technique, post-transplant is nice and easy. Another advantage is the absence of constraint bandages or bothering turbans pressing the head. Even though, avoid efforts and keep your self in moderate rest. During dinner, eat light food as soup or cool pasta. Avoid meat or grease meal. Also avoid drinking alcohol, coffee, and tea in order to guarantee a tranquil night of sleep. The medicine we prescribe will also help you having a nice resting night. The powerful local anesthetic applied during surgery helps a lot in keep the patient away from discomforts during the first night. |
In the following day The patient comes back to the doctor's office for the first hair washing and to receive a full kit developed for the recommended first-two-week care. We will recapitulate the recommendations and we will carry through a session of facial lymphatic draining, a kind of massage to prevent a potential swelling. The patient will have all our telephones to clear any eventual doubts, anyway. |

Going back to work You’re set free to going back to work on the second day after surgery, in case that your job does not need physical efforts. In general, five days are enough so that your appearance does not compromise businesses. An extremely discrete aspect is gotten generally between seven to ten days after the procedure, when the hair transplant passes unnoticed. As the formation of crusts practically does not occur, the aspect is pretty clean since the beginning. The points are removed between ten to fourteen days, but for out-of-town patients we can use absorbable stitches that do not require to be removed. Anyway, the hair covers the stitches (posterior region of the head) letting discrete. |
Returning to normal activities (sport and leisure) The direct sun contact should be prevented in the first four weeks, but you will be able to use a cap, supplied by us. Light sports, such as walking, are permitted after the third day; jogging and biking, after the fifth; gym and swimming after two weeks, as it goes for the competitive sports. We recommend that the patient doesn’t smoke during the two weeks after the surgery (if you are not able to do so, at least reduce drastically the tobacco consumption). Avoid alcohol (no more than one cup a day). |

Post-transplant (months later) In the first three months, we like to check our patient’s development monthly, in order to certify that the he or she has washed the transplant area properly and to make sure that there’s not any kind of irritation in the scalp that may prevent the hair from growing the way it should. For those who live abroad and cannot keep coming back to San Paulo, we can manage to accompany the process by analyzing the digital cases sent by the patient via e-mail. This is a way of keeping it close securing the right procedure during the post-transplant period, because even being it pretty much simple, precaution is advisable. |
